DOMiT and Migrations Museum
DOMiT’s goal is to preserve the heritage of the immigrants for future generations and to make it publically accessible – for research as well as for self-ascertainment. The immigration experience has not only shaped immigrants and their offspring but also German society. Migration history is an important part of German social history. Its documentation is therefore also essential for the majority of German society.

Activities:
* DOMiT collects documents and material on the history of migration in Germany since the 1950s and makes them accessible to the public.
* DOMiT develops and carries out research projects on migration.
* DOMiT plans and presents exhibitions.
* DOMiT hosts seminars, conferences, slide–shows, and talks.
These have been the guiding principles since the foundation of the organization:
* DOMiT does not pursue any political or ideological goals.
* DOMiT does not discriminate on a religious or ethnic basis.
* DOMit accepts only natural persons as members of the organization, corporations cannot become a member.
* DOMiT is independent from official institutions. The basis for any cooperation are the guiding principles.
* DOMiT’s collection is filed only by issues of migration.
* DOMiT does not interpret documents and sources.
