Call for participants - Anna Lindh Forum 2010
Specific objectives and proposed topics of discussion during the Meeting:
In the context of the Meeting, three roundtables are proposed to address the following topics:
· Migrations and mutual perceptions in the Mediterranean: challenging stereotypes
When it takes time to build dialogue for co-existence, the shift where mistrust and hatred get the headlines can happen in a very short time and have an influence on different spheres of daily social life. How can we challenge stereotypes in order to encourage meeting the Other?
· Migrants and immigrated communities as key actors for cooperation and intercultural action
Migrants bring diversity to societies where they often contribute to the economy and the culture of the hosting country but they also support their communities back in their country of origins where they carry influences from the new societies they live in. The global context can have also a big impact in this balance. How can we valorise the migrant as an actor in this mutual enrichment?
· Intercultural approaches in dealing with strengthening social cohesion and solidarity in multicultural urban contexts
On a daily basis, cultural diversity is present everywhere in the cities. In most of the cases people find common grounds and go beyond stereotypes. However xenophobia and racism phenomenon can be really strong. How can we strengthen and capitalize all the experiences done at local level?
The outcomes of the three roundtables will serve as recommendations for topics to be addressed during the "Anna Lindh Forum 2010" and other activities/ programs to be launched by the Anna Lindh Foundation.
